The Drunkard's Walk

After languishing on my reading stack for a week or so, while I worked through Nova, I returned my attention to The Drunkard's Walk the other day, only to find that it was due back at the library on Tuesday.

"Fortunately" a sore throat kept me in isolation this weekend, and Dawnise plied me with her standard (and effective, lest anyone think I'm complaining) "you need to rest" tactic, so here I am, having finished it days before it's due back.

It's perhaps the most approachable book on randomness I've read - and being laced with many of the same exemplars as other books didn't detract from my enjoyment of it. It's emphasis on the history of probability and statistics was interesting, and helped put the state of the art into context.

While perhaps not as "striking" as Fooled by Randomness, it felt more even in it's treatment of the subject, and less condescending in it's presentation.

Well worth reading.
