There's a bit of money I didn't plan to spend...

Got the bike back to I-90 motorsports, and a few hours later they called to tell me that they'd figured out why the fuel warning light was staying on...

Seems the fuel sender - which is inside the fuel tank - was failing. It was intermittent - sometimes it worked for many minutes, other times it reported low fuel immediately on start-up.

The "bad stuff" if it failed completely is that the bike would just stop (being fuel-injected and all, if the sender stops sending, the bike stops going).

They denied all responsibility, and if I hadn't had negative experiences with them in the past (they left screws out when reassembling my Trophy when they had it, for instance) I'd have taken them at their word.

As it was I told the guy that I wasn't saying it was their fault, but that they didn't have a great track record with me, and that I was tempted to take it to someone else to get the work done on that basis.

He gave me break on the labor in an effort to win the business, so I figured I'd give them one more shot. This is their third swing, however, anything goes less than perfect and I'm done with them.

Actually, even if they do the job correctly, I'm going to look for somewhere else to get the Triumphs worked on - these guys just don't come across as being very professional.

Anyway, there's a couple hundred bucks I didn't plan to spend out the window, and likely just in time for the bikes to go in the garage for the winter.
