Naked Fingers
I left my wedding band on the bathroom counter this morning.
My finger feels naked, and I suspect I'm going to keep "checking" for the missing ring all day.

I didn't finish reading the sentence when my left hand flicked and checked for the ring. Didn't even think about it until I read to the end of the sentence.
The only times I've ever had the ring off since being married was when my fingers were so swollen from RSI that it hurt to have the ring on. Of course, at that point my hands were in sufficient pain that the missing ring wasn't exactly top of mind...
