I bought a Watch
For reasons I can't explain, over the last several months I've had the desire to start wearing a wrist watch for the first time since high school.
It was in my mid teens that I decided pocket watches were preferable to wrist watches, and I carried one for years. I stopped only when cell phones got small enough that I started carrying mine in my pocket, forcing "everything else" (keys, money clip, watch) to the other pocket and putting the watch at increased risk of scratching.
Since then, I've just used my cellphone as my watch, but lately I've wanted a "real watch" (read: analog dial). So when I spotted a coupon in the Costco mailer that put the cost of a divers watch at $50, I figured what the heck. (My only requirements were water resistance and that if the watch had a timing bezel, the bezel had to be functional - i.e. actually rotate.)
The watch seems large, and I need to remove a few links from the band before I can start wearing it - which I may attempt this evening, if I can find an tool appropriate to remove the link pins. Then we'll see how "wristwatch + typing" actually works out for me.
