A good weekend, but sooo tired

Dawnise and I spent last weekend in Port Angeles with friends celebrating a birthday. We almost didn't go, owing to having only gotten back from the east coast last weekend and having a small list of things that need doing around the house, but ultimately decided that spending time with friends was more important, and I'm glad we did.

We caught a ferry to Bainbridge mid morning on Saturday, visited a bit with our former neighbors (including "crashing" the annual home owners association meeting) and then hit the road, arriving in Port Angeles around 5:30 in the evening.

Between then and turning in around 1:30 the six of us (with a help from our gracious hosts) drank several bottles of wine, made and consumed a very nice dinner, played games, and generally just "hung out."

The next morning I was up - thanks to the sun streaming through a window - at 7:30, though I managed to get another hour of mostly sleep before deciding to give up and wander down stairs. Brunch was a leisurely affair consisting of eggs, bacon, and sour dough pancakes (note to self - gluten free flour produces tasty but oddly runny pancakes). The party broke up around 2, with several of the group heading for the airport by way of the Tacoma Narrows, and Dawnise and I heading back for Bainbridge.

We grabbed an ice cream at Mora and sat in line for the next ferry back to Seattle, ultimately arriving home around 9 o'clock. It seemed like my alarm went off moments after we got settled and into bed, rousing me to go to work.

Last night (ok, not technically weekend, but still) we caught the "Silent Movie Mondays" showing of Douglas Fairbanks' Robin Hood, with live organ accompaniment. It was good, but long, and by the end I was fighting sleep, somewhat unsuccessfully.

We got home around 11, and again my alarm went off just after getting to sleep.

Still - lots of fun.
