Missives from the 6th Floor

I hadn't checked the traps I set yesterday, so I made it a point to do so before leaving this morning. Both traps were empty, but as I turned around to head back to the door I spotted a chihuahua rat*. It wasn't moving, but no signs of trauma. A bit of prodding with a stick revealed that it was definitely dead, and rigor mortis had already set in.

I went back upstairs, grabbed the camera, a trash bag, and some gloves, took a couple pictures, and used two bits of lumber to move the body into the bag, tied it up and put it in the trash. Peeled off the gloves, dropped them in the trash, and went upstairs to replace the camera and scrub up.

So, tonight on the way home I'll stop at home depot and grab some larger traps, or possibly just some poison. And it seems I need to figure out how a rather large critter found it's way into my basement.

Won't this be fun.

* ok, it wasn't that big, but still, whoa, eh?
