Camera
After thinking about it for several years, I'm finally "in the market" for a DSLR.
My dad always (well, as far back as I remember) had Nikons - two F bodies. He brought the cameras out occasionally - less and less often as I grew up and the kids became more of the focus (groan) on any given outing. So my first thought was to buy a D40x and borrow his lenses, but after talking to a bunch of friends who've made the plunge, I've decided to go Canon.
The obvious choice is the 400D, though I entertained - for a brief moment - the significantly more spendy 40D before deciding I'd rather spend that extra money on glass (lenses) than on the body.
So I was all set to place an order, 'till I discovered that Canon is expected to announce a model refresh for the 400D (which is a year and a half old now) in time for PMA.
So now I'm playing wait-and-see. The expectation is that the new camera will incorporate the Digic III sensor found in the 40D along with the larger LCD, and possibly live view and video capture.
Depending on the price and features of the new offering, I'll either buy the new one, or take advantage of the fact that the 400D will be "old news" and likely see a price drop.
In the mean time, I hate waiting...
