Used to "Luxury"

We've put a couple hundred miles on the new car (Dawnise has named it "Oz" for reasons best described as "freely associative"*) - doing random running around, going to Michael & Brian's Christmas-eve pot-luck and Alfred & Jodi's for Christmas day.

I like it - it rides nicely, though obviously not as "tight" a ride as the 330, and the interior fit and finish is nice enough. There are a handful of features I'm missing already - all of them are likely available on higher trim packages for more than we wanted to spend and coupled with a bunch of things we either didn't want, or didn't care about.

The drivers seat is power adjust, but unlike the BMW there's no seat memory - so adjusting it between Dawnise and I is a small chore each time we switch drivers.

The 330's mirror has a in-built garage door transmitter - and it's very handy. This is one of the things that is available as an ala-cart option for the Subaru, but wasn't installed in this particular car.

I really would have liked stereo controls on the steering wheel. Not having to take my hands off the wheel to turn down, or change the station on, the stereo becomes second nature quickly - and is something of a safety feature.

Oh, I didn't realize how much I like ignoring the set-and-forget climate control in the BMW 'till I bought a car that doesn't have it. Similarly, we've taken to just leaving the headlights on full time, since they don't turn themselves on at dusk.

And eventually, I'm going to have to change the battery in the keyless entry transmitter - something that, thanks to it's "charges while in the ignition" feature, I don't need to worry about on the 330.

It's amazing how quickly we get used to things that "just work."

* for those trying to play along from home - "Subaru Outback" evokes "Outback" evokes "Australia" evokes "Oz." The convertible is named Anne for similarly amusing reasons.
