What Do You Do With An Old Dead Hobby?

(to the tune of "What Do You Do With a Drunken Sailor" a.k.a. "What Do You Do With An Old Dead Gerbil")

I have some boxes that I've literally been moving around with me for 10 years. I never look in them, 'cause I know what they contain, and while I don't actually care to keep their contents, I can't see throwing them out, either.

One contains a small collection of comic books - mostly ROBOTECH - which in all reality probably deserves to be tossed out into the rubbish heap. In some sense, the comics are the easy ones, I'll take 'em to a comic store and say "what are they worth to you?" Provided the answer is more than the gas it took me to get 'em there, I'll be fine with it.

The other contains stamps and stamp albums, which are probably of value to someone, but not to me. I forget how I started collecting stamps - but I suspect it had to do with the fact that my grandfather on my dad's side is a collector. I enjoyed it for a while, but haven't really paid attention to the hobby in many years.

The stamps are harder - I'm not sure how to find the people who care.

I guess I could always list 'em on ebay as a "collection of random stamps" and see if anyone will buy 'em for the cost of shipping...

Comic store won't buy 'em. You're better off offering them via Ebay.

Or maybe freecycle.com.

Oh, as to the stamps, there are stores that might actually buy them, at a marked discount. You can find 'em in your Yellow Pages or equivalent. Lots of coin stores will also deal stamps, if you look.
