If You Like Animals, You'll Love Lamb

Despite the fact that life's in limbo at the moment owing to the move, we had a really good weekend.

Sunday we spent the afternoon with our friends Dave & Marcia walking along north beach near Port Townsend and generally enjoying the weather.

We met up with Gladys, Ralph and Ralph's daughter for dinner at the Ajax cafe in Port Hadlock. We had been joking with a different David (the one who until recently owned the creperie) about him making lamb for Dawnise, who's not a big fan, and so when I saw a rack of lamb on the fresh list, that's what I decided to have. It was nicely done, accompanied with heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and couscous. For dessert Dawnise and I shared an excellent chocolate tart and a chocolate pots du creme.

Last night we were invited to David & Shannon's for dinner - we arrived at 6 and chatted over wine while the other couple (another David and his wife Rose) arrived and David finished off - wait for it - leg of lamb.

Dinner was fabulous - as was the company. We left (well, I left) uncomfortably full, and I swear I gained 5 pounds this weekend.

To top it off, late last night a storm moved in, and we got the first lightning and thunder I've seen since moving up here two and a half years ago. Laying in bed, listening to the rain pound on the roof - it was a near perfect end to the weekend.

With any luck the wettest of it is done, and my ride to work this morning will be dry.
