HOA's are the devil
We got a copy of the CC&Rs for the potential new house today, and I read them over.
Home Owners Associations are utter bullshit.
Our current HOA has authority to levy assessments to pay for upkeep and improvement of common assets - like the private road that many of us live on and the well system that supplies us water. That's about it.
No "you can't paint your house that color," or "you can't replace your roof without having the new material approved by the architectural committee."
What a pile of horse shit.
And we're trying to buy into one.

Yay! Congrats on the upwardly mobile endeavor! RE the HOH....The Yard Maintenance Policy alone would kill me. (Boiling water works on the weeds of sidewalk cracks. Oh no don't used weed killer to asphyxiate them, but please, drown and boil them simultaneously instead!!! Maybe you should just flog the dang things every ten days... yea, that'll teach the little buggers!)
