Good Neighbors

Today was the annual homeowners association picnic and board elections. And as you'd expect, it was raining all day.

It was our turn to host this year, so we had at least representation from all but two or three households here for the meeting at 3 (I was elected secretary or two years, a role I've been filling for the past few months anyway) and the "picnic" immediately following.

We're surrounded by good folks - all of whom mostly get along. We went through tons of wine, and a fair bit of propane (for the BBQ, of course), and got many compliments on the landscaping and the newly installed (as of last night) motorized awning over the rear deck.

Reminded me how much Dawnise and I enjoy entertaining... Too bad most of the folks we'd invite live across the water and are loathe to make the trip.

Talked to one set of neighbors who have had their home on the market for a couple of months, have dropped the price by $80k, and still haven't gotten any traction. They repeated what we're hearing from the agents we've spoken to (one of whom literally said "thanks but no thanks" via email this morning) - the market is saturated - with 6-9 months of inventory in various price ranges.

So it's a good thing we've got good neighbors, 'cause it's very possible we'll be hanging around with them 'till the market balances back out...
