Have I Mentioned I Hate Moving?
After a couple of discussions - including with our financial planner - I've pretty much ruled out the "buy, move, sell" plan. Which pretty much kills "look around for the right house, and do nothing unless and until you find it."
It looks like we could do in fact do it - but we're both pretty financially conservative - and the what if's make it less attractive (How many months do we end up carrying both mortgages? What are the local real estate markets going to do over those months? How much money do we end up "throwing away" when all's said and done?)
So we're meeting with a local realtor whom we know socially tonight to talk about next steps. What we can realistically expect to sell the house for? How long we can expect it to be on the market? Is it even reasonable to talk about an "appointment only" listing? Should we get a storage unit and move some of our stuff out to open up the feel of the place?
And on top of all that - what do we do about the cats? Well, Junior specifically. We've got a cage in the room outside our bedroom where he goes to eat, and when he decides to ignore the only non-negotiable rule in the house (excrement goes in the litter box and no where else).
The logical part of me knows that the cage is an eyesore and needs to vanish. But we're not talking about for a week or two - we're talking about a couple (perhaps several) months. So feeding arrangements get complicated, and if I can't toss the little bugger in his cage when he misbehaves, my next instinct is to toss him off the balcony.
It's amazing that one animal can be the source of so much stress.
So, tonight we meet with a realtor, discuss the situation, and see where we go from here.
