Caribbean Getaway: Thursday Feb 22nd

We got up and made it to the catamaran with time to spare. Not moments after casting off the host says that on our return, we'd be making a quick stop at Playa Mia to drop off folks who had elected for the "snorkeling with beach break" double feature. Of course, since the tour guy specifically said we wouldn't be passing said beach, I had left the tickets for the Valve event in the stateroom.

The snorkeling was excellent (pictures start here) - colorful coral and fish, including a five-and-a-half foot baracudda, a sea turtle, and reports of a rather large eel (which I didn't catch sight of) along with the "normal" assortment of tropical fish. At times the fish were so thick they were creepy.

Dawnise managed to sweet talk our way off the boat at Playa Mia and into the Valve area, where we joined the beach-party-already-in-progress (pics) for about 90 minutes before hopping on the party boat back to the ship. It was fun, but I'm glad we didn't cancel our plans to sit on a hot crowded beach all day.

On return to ship we hosed off, grabbed a snack, and ended up playing Fluxx with some friends 'till it was time to prep for dinner.

Dinner was crab legs for me, Chicken Kiev for Dawnise. A bit of a backwards slide overall, though still way better than the first few nights. The French onion soup was a tad salty but otherwise good. Desert still very much a dicey proposition - my soufflé was too cakey, and their
"interpretation" of Bananas foster, um, well, sucked. The blueberry sorbet was good, however.

I'm sitting in the room, having burned the snorkel photo's to CD for one of the cruise crew who was with us on the trip, typing this up, while Dawnise has ducked out to a Valve organized "ladies night out" - I expect I may be very asleep before she returns...
