Surprise!

Dawnise successfully sprung her two-months-in-the-making surprise party on me tonight with the help of David @ C'est La Vie.

He called around 6pm with a story about his credit card machine acting up - sounding legitimately distressed - and asked if I could stop by and see if I could sort it out again. Being the sucker I am, I told him we were about to head to dinner at the pub and that I'd stop in on our way.

We had been planning to leave in a few minutes to meet Brad & Kat at the pub - so we dosed Junior a few minutes ahead of schedule and hopped in the car. When we arrived, David and Rachel looked like they were closing up, and I asked what the credit card machine was doing.

On queue, a stream of folks came out of the back - and the surprise was officially sprung.

David treated us to a dinner of three kinds of quiche and salad - Fabrice brought the wine, Dawnise brought the sparkling cider, and our neighbor Marcia used her key to our place while we were out earlier today to grab the box of cheap wine glasses. After dinner it was coffee and sweet crepes all around.

The topper of the night was when Dawnise asked me for my credit card to pay for it all, and had me sign the receipt while carefully hiding the amount.

Thanks, beautiful, and thanks to everyone who made the trip over for the event. It is appreciated.

Your beloved is getting just a little *too* good at keeping these things secret - first we heard of it was this blog entry! But Happy Birthday, anyway (BTW, either Amazon has your actual birthdate off by a day, or I do).
