Some Days It's Not Worth Getting Up
The day started out ok - I planned to work from home, so I got to sleep in a bit. I got up and went downstairs to find that the larger of my two LCD's - a Viewsonic va2012wb - was displaying "NO SIGNAL". Little did I know what a harbinger that would turn out to be...
The strange thing was that the analog port worked just fine, but was annoyingly blurry. After several hours of chasing my tail, including googling with minimal success, swapping out video cards, upgrading video drivers, trying the monitor on other machines, and threatening to chuck the whole setup out the back door, I finally got through to Viewsonic tech support who informed me that it's a "known problem" with that line, and that they'd issue an RMA with a 2-3 week turnaround. So thanks to Costco's awesome return policy, it'll be going back to Costco tomorrow, and hopefully they'll have a non Viewsonic I can take home in it's place. Total loss: 8am to noon.
Dawnise took me to lunch at Cest La Vie for crepe's and quiche, which is turning out to be the definite high point of the day, and shortly after we got back and I sat down to actually get some work done, the power went out at the house.
So I'm typing this from the Library (love free wifi, love free watts even more), where I'm trying to figure out what I can possibly do with the rest of my day that will be productive and minimally frustrating.
I need to figure out Microsoft SQL Server replication, which definitely qualifies on the productive front, but I'm guessing will fail the minimally frustrating test miserably...
