Snowed In: Day 2

Pop quiz - what do you get when you mix snow on the ground with temperatures hovering above freezing during the day and dipping into the low teens at night?

If you answered "a recipe for ice like you wouldn't believe," score one point.

My commute starts with a climb up our driveway from our garage, the drive down our private road, both of which are solid sheets of ice at this point. Fortunately, I can work from home, which is what I've done for three days now (Friday was just post-Thanksgiving convenience).

It's supposed to warm up a bit tomorrow, and start raining tomorrow afternoon/evening. They've just declared a "winter storm watch" - which means "THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW...SLEET...OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL" (I have no idea why the national weather service feels the need to SHOUT all the time...)

And of course, not being prepared for this sort of winter, we have neither snow tires nor snow shovel, and the tires on the BMW aren't eligible for chains. I have no idea how the car will behave on the ice, and I'd just as soon not find out.
