C'est La Vie
I'm home from work today, helping Dawnise take care of pre-trip "stuff" and generally spending the day with her before she leaves for S. Africa tonight.
The other day she spotted a newly opened Crepe restaurant on the Island, so this morning we wandered down for crepes and coffee for breakfast. The owner (David?) and chef is a very friendly and vivacious Parisian, with a great sense of humor. The coffee (Cafe Umbria) is excellent, and the crepes - we shared one sweet and one savory - were very tasty.
While we were sitting there, two ladies walked in, one with a Starbucks latte, and David gave them a good natured berating for bringing that "septic water" into his store, and made them a "real" latte, on the house, to show them the error of their ways.
They're located at 305 and High School road, between the Pizza Factory and the dry-cleaner, open from 7am to 3pm Tuesday through Sunday.
I suspect I'll stop for breakfast once or twice while Dawnise is out of town.

Considering the fact that my local coffee shop ( the Some Day Cafe ) in Davis Sq, Somerville was just closed down and is being replaced by a crepery, I have to say I'd much rather drink an espresso from Starbucks, than eat one of those soggy little French pancakes! :)-

p.s. I also have to admit that my one and only restaurant job was a stint as a busboy at a crepery called the Magic Pan in Faneuil Hall, Boston. Maybe that's the real reason for my disdain for crepes!
