Back, By Popular Demand...
It's the Weekend Update.
I'm getting into the habit of working from home on Friday's unless there's a compelling reason for me to be in the office. So Dawnise and I left together for the 6:30pm boat to go into Seattle for dinner at Ed & Holly's place, with special guest stars Larry Fillion, Janine (the same Janine Dawnise is soon heading to S. Africa with), two of Ed's cousins, and our favorite Greek Australian, JD.
Dinner was good, the company was good, and the Johnny Walker Blue was good, too.
Saturday morning we went down-town and procured our soon-to-be traditional Corn Cake, Scone, and coffee at the farmer's market, where we spent some time just enjoying the morning and people watching. We went back to the house and did some domestic chores before heading back down-town for the Improv. After the show we got an ice cream at Mora before heading back home and turning in.
Sunday we went to the "17th annual Blackberry Festival" on the board-walk in Bremerton and found it to be lacking in redeeming qualities and, more important, lacking in Blackberries. We counted a whopping 4 vendors who's products actually contained blackberries, the balance of the vendors being things you'd find at any commercial street-fair anywhere.
Suffice to say we don't plan to take in the 18th incarnation of the event...
We met Brad and Kat for a late lunch at Outback, and stopped at Costco on our way back home. The afternoon consisted of (drum-roll please) installing compact fluorescent light bulbs. I was inspired to give them another whirl after reading an article in Fast Company.
We figure we'll replace every incandescent we practically can over the next few Costco trips.
The evening was taken up watching the first three episodes of Season 1 of Battlestar Galactica. We watched the mini-series a while back and thought it was good enough to at least check out the first season.
The first episode was quite good, the second basically forgettable (he says, trying to remember it's plot) and the third (with cameo by the original Apollo) was formulaic but reasonably well executed.
And that, as they say, is all the news that fit to print.

The article in Fast Company looks like something your brother would send to you . . . good for you giving them another try!
