Weekend Recap
On Saturday Dawnise and I went down to the Island farmers market, she got her weekly Corn Cake, I had a blueberry scone, and we got a coffee from Pegasus. We wandered a bit, enjoying the morning and our breakfast, and then wandered up 305 toward the Kitsap County Fair.
The fair wasn't much, nothing like the OC or LA county fairs (or even the Puyallup fair), but it was a pleasant way to spend a couple hours. The photography showings had some very nice work, and Dawnise saw quilt/craft entries from a couple ladies she knows from her quilt guild.
Since we were in Bremerton, we decided to stop at a Mexican grocer and carcinera we had spotted on our last trip through and pick up some Carne Asada for dinner. Turned out they only had a pound of prepared meat left, so we took that, and made up the difference with unprepared cuts. Our neighbor Marcia joined us (Dave was working), and we had a very nice dinner, and saw some pictures of their recent anniversary (#25, pretty respectable) trip to Glacier park.
Sunday we caught the 10:30 boat into Seattle, and got a lift with Dina and Fabrice (and Lucas) to Sweet Fest - the "first annual" desert festival in Redmond. We were all pleasantly surprised at the number and diversity of vendors present - we had a nice afternoon walking around sampling highly caloric treats.
We met up with Brian back at Brian and Dina's place, and sa around chatting while Lucas napped. At 5:30, when Brian was ready to gnaw off his own leg, we roused Lucas and headed to Ipanema for dinner. Dinner was good (as usual), and the conversation very pleasant. Brad and Kat were on the 6:20 boat via Bainbridge and were kind enough to stop at the house and feed the cats, which worked out well, as we missed the 7:20 and didn't get home to dose Junior 'till a bit after 9. (We'd have gotten there earlier save for the repaving work on 305 - they blocked the turn to Hidden Cove, and we had to back-track to Day road and take the back way in.)
A very pleasant weekend, all in all.
