I Hate Waiting...

I finally got the notebook situation @ Work sorted - we returned the leviathan they purchased, and I ordered an Asus W3J from NewEgg on Monday.

The showed the item as in-stock, an assertion which was reiterated by the CSR I spoke to prior to placing the order (these units have been a bit hard to find). I paid for 3 day shipping, and the unit left CA on Tuesday.

So I should be getting it today, right? Well, don't hold your breath...

As of last night, tracking showed the box en-route to Portland. This morning, the item still shows today as the delivery date, but also shows that the box is still in Portland, having arrived at 1pm, but not having been checked in 'till 9:30pm.

UPS says "it might be delivered today, but was shipped ground, so it may take up to 5 business days."

NewEgg initially said "ground is 3-5 day service." To which I pointed out that I had paid for 3 day service, had the screen-capture of the "Guaranteed 3 day delivery" right in front of me. Then they changed their tune to "our contract with UPS is ground delivery in 3 days."

Bottom line - when it doesn't show up today, I call NewEgg tomorrow and they refund my $15 in shipping.

And while I'm at it, I get to tell them that if they had just shipped the damn thing UPS 3 day, and not tried to game the system, this liability would have been UPS's.

Color me annoyed.
