No LASIK

After meeting with the actual eye doctor for the first time, I've pretty much decided not to go ahead with LASIK at the moment.

The reason is basically three combined factors:

  1. It's expensive (about $2k/eye)
  2. It's permanent (there's no way to "undo" the procedure), and
  3. The outcome isn't completely predictable.

I'm not worried about complications, particularly, the rate of actual vision degradation, or significant complications is really low at this point, but with my glasses I'm 20/15 - and there's no way any doctor could guarantee that the surgery would leave my vision that good.

So I'm going to have the doc write me a contact prescription.

I am intrigued about the "Focus Night and Day" lenses, which apparently you can wear continuously (including overnight) for a month.
