Move-in Update
I'm sick. :-/ Been fighting a cold for several days, and yesterday afternoon I officially lost. A fair bit's happened over the last few days...
On Saturday Dawnise brought the cats over to the house from the apartment, and Fabrice lent his assistance (and his SUV) moving the majority of the stuff left in the apartment. That afternoon Dawnise and I worked on putting the kitchen together 'till it was time to leave for the progressive dinner we were invited to.
We hoofed it up the hill and met a number of our neighbors (and even before I felt sick I'd forgotten most of their names). Dinner was good, as was the company - we were one of two young couples present, and the only one without kids. The party moved around (as progressive dinners do) and broke up around 9:30. We got home, found the sheets, made the bed (it had been delivered earlier in the day - and for the first time since I was 14, I don't stick off the end), and pretty much collapsed.
The next morning I went back to the apartment to get the last load of stuff - and boy was there more than I expected. In the process I managed to lock myself out (took the trash out, and left my keys in my jacket on the sofa), and after the concierge let me back in, I scrambled to grab the rest. I ended up forgetting to empty the freezer - fortunately there wasn't that much in it, but there went the pizza we were going to have for dinner.
While I was gone an installer came out to hook up the ice-maker and discovered that the movers had moved the filter, but lost one of the hoses. DirecTV was scheduled to install in the afternoon, so when I got home I went downstairs and started searching for the TiVo.
The good news was that I found it fairly quickly, the bad news is that it wouldn't power up. A bit of diagnostics uncovered that the power-supply seems unhappy. With either one of the two drives installed the drive spins up fine, but with both attached, one spins up, the other just blinks it's onboard LED. Called DirecTV and canceled the install (the installer was happy - meant he got to watch the game). So, no DirecTV 'till I either fix the TiVo or buy a new one. Grumble.
Since we weren't waiting for an installer anymore, we went to Silverdale to hit Home Depot, Costco, Target, and a couple other places to get some necessities. Ended up having dinner at Applebee's before heading home.
As I type this I'm sitting on the Ferry on my way to work - they just cut the engines to coast into dock. WiFi over Water is pretty cool :)
Got a busy day today - not the least of which will be calling Comcast (the lying bastards) and Qwest (the greedy bastards) to try to get broadband sorted at the house.
