Raining in the AM - not heavy, but enough to make everything slippery.  Decided to scrap our preliminary plans to head to the Blue Mountains due to the weather.

Observation: elevators in the hotel aren't labeled in Braille!

Had breakfast at the hotel buffet - good spread - much better than dinner had been.  Tried Vegemite - it's as bad as you've heard.  Blech.  Imagine soy sauce, but with the consistency of creamy peanut butter, and a heavy yeast smell.  Attractive, eh?  They eat it on "everything" - toast, crackers, in soup, you name it.

Decided to walk to The Rocks - an historical district at the north end of George St.  On the way we made a stop at the AMP tower - the tallest structure in Sydney.

Took they "sky tour" - an interactive multimedia presentation.  Kinda cheesy - good pictures.  The observation deck in the tower was in a white-out -- there was a cloud sitting on the tower.  They validated our tickets so we could come back when there's something to see.

Once at The Rocks we wandered around the open-air market and looked at the shops.  Sydney is a shoppers Mecca.  They (the Australians) have a name for shopping -- "Retail Therapy."

Saw 6 "agents" - street performers playing follow-the-leader and pestering (in a friendly way) pedestrians.  Amusing.  (If you don't know what an agent is - go rent a copy of The Matrix and be educated.)

Sat and listened to a quartet playing Jazz -- the female lead singer was quite good.  We ended up being taped by a Dutch film crew - we may end up on Dutch TV.

Took the train back to the hotel to freshen up.

Walked to Darling Harbor (again at the northernmost end of Sydney) in the PM.  Had dinner at Zaaffran - an upscale Indian restaurant.  Nearly left as they stuck us in an uncomfortable booth and wouldn't move us to a table.  Dinner turned out to be superb.  Desert included scoops of rose, almond, and saffron ice cream.  Yummy.

Walked back to the hotel and collapsed into sleep.
